As part of the Danube-DravaNational Park, the complete Hungarian section of River Drava (236 km- 70,5 km) is under natural protection. Protecting the area’s flora and fauna is a common task of us all. This common responsibility gives water tourism its special character, but sets standards at the same time. The National Park supports ecological water tourism aiming at discovering the area in the first place (canoe tours). In order to restrict the area’s visitors in time, room and number, certain limitations are necessary. Please note that permissions for canoe tours are submitted by Danube-Drava National Park Administration (DDNI) only. If you wish to cross the country boarders in course of your tour, please contact Boarder Control to be submitted the necessary permissions. Canoeing season: 1st June – 15th September
One-day tours:
- Without permission, all year round: Barcs - Csomoros-island - Barcs (6 km), between Csomoros-island (149 km) and Sánc (157 km)
- With permission and tour guide Barcs - Csomoros-island - Drávatamási (10 km) Barcs –Csomoros island - Drávatamási - Szentborbás (20 km)
Heresznye - Barcs (32 km)
Vízvár - Barcs (38 km)
Registration by: minimum 10 before tour start of the planned tour.
Longer tours: Departure from: Vízvár (191 km) or Őrtilos (236 km) Final destination: Drávaszabolcs harbour (78km)
Maximum participants in group: 35 persons
There are 7 camping possibilities on the river shore for tourists. These are equipped with trash cans, toilets, information boards, fireplaces, wooden tables and benches. Camping possibilities: Őrtilos, train station (236 km) - Vízvár, ferry harbour (190 km) - Barcs, Dráva-bridge (152,3 km) - Szentborbás, water house (133 km) - Drávasztára, harbour (115,5 km) –Vejti, ferry (98 km) - Drávaszabolcs, quay next to traffic bridge (78 km)
There are stopovers available on the river shore; however, no sleeping at these places is permitted.
Stopovers in: Heresznye, rowing boat port (185 km) - Barcs, Csomoros island (149 km) - Drávatamási, DDNPI Natural Teaching Centre (144 km) - Kisszentmárton- Majláthpuszta (96 km)
Registration by: 31st March of the respective year.
Canoeing on River Danube
All canoe tours are organized by Danube-Drava National Park Administration. Registration in advance is in all cases necessary!
Béda-Karapancsa
The wonderful water world of Béda-Karapancsa at River Danube is best discovered by canoe. The guided tour takes you to this unspoilt section of the Danube branch (app. 7 km). Registration and appointment is in each case necessary!
